Redirect, Recharge, Recycle
Having ample time is irrelevant without energy. Here is the method I use to manage my energy levels:
Recycle: When I have HIGH ENERGY, I focus on cultivating the energy.
- Use time blocking for long blocks of deep work to do knowledge work.
- Exercise and go for a run.
- Invest in relationships (as an introvert).
Recharge: When I have LOW ENERGY, I focus on activities to recharge.
- Practice mindfulness and meditation.
- Take regular breaks (short or long) and get outside.
- Exercise and eat well.
Redirect: When I have NEGATIVE ENERGY, I focus on activities to generate positivity.
- Write down things I’m grateful for.
- Listen to music that can boost my mood.
- Say “no” and practice essentialism.
Identify the activities you do, and determine how they affect your energy. And then manage your energy by recycling high energy, recharging low energy, and redirecting negative energy.
